A studio portrait of Dr. Chauncey Hobart, 1811-1904. Presiding Elder of the Minnesota District of the Wisconsin Conference, 1884. He presided over the first Annual Conference Session of the Minnesota Conference held at Red Wing 1856. Hobart Methodist Church, Minneapolis was named for him. Hobart wrote two books, "Recollections of My Life" (1885) and "History of Methodism in Minnesota" (1887).

MnDOT's bikeway maps serve as a reference guide illustrating major historical and cultural points of interest in Minnesota, public park lands and facilities, equipment, and safety information. They also depict road analyses for bicycle travel, location of paved road shoulders and off-road bikeways, and controlled access roads where bicycles are prohibited. There are 54 maps in the Statewide Series (1979-1983), 4 maps in the Statewide Quadrant Series (1986-1993), and 2 maps in the Metro Series (1989). Legislatively mandated, these maps were prepared as convenient guides to help bicyclists select their routes. Each map is unique and signifies a historical reference to the state of bicycle facilities at the time of publication.

A photograph showing the exterior of Kenyon Evangelical Church which was organized in 1898. Built in 1914 the Cornerstone was laid on August 16. In 1968 it merged with the Kenyon Methodist Church and is now Kenyon United Methodist Church. Written on the back, "Mrs. Ernest Huake 511 oak St. N.E., Brainerd, Minn. Dear Mrs. Huake, How are you all? We are having a lovely time. Got here at 5:00 Sat. evening and had such nice trip. Essie is fine and we all send our love to you all. Do not know exactly when we'll be home. With much love, Minnie."

The "Governor John A. Johnsonn Grand March" was created in Johnson's honor. He died during his third term in 1909. Johnson was born in Nicollet County, and was a partner in running the St. Peter Herald newspaper prior to his election as governor.

Notes from the 13th annual conference of the Minnesota Library Association (MLA) held on October 12-14 in Red Wing, Minnesota. President of the association Gratia Countryman presided and gave the opening address on "The Library as Social Center." Other presentations included topics such as reading rooms for smokers, book selection, county extension of library services, the history of Red Wing, acquisition of state documents, advertising library resources, and story hours. List of resolutions and elected officers are included.

This photograph shows some of the soldiers of St. Peter's Company I at an encampment in the vicinity of Red Wing in 1888. They were part of the Second Regiment of the Minnesota National Guard. Company I was formed in 1883, and was disbanded in 1893.
Native American burial mounds located near Prairie Island, Minnesota. This image is by Arthur Adams, Minneapolis high school teacher, local historian, and photographer. Adams traveled throughout Minnesota, taking photographs to augment his lectures. His studio was located at 3648 Lyndale Avenue South in Minneapolis.
