Poster depicting the battle of Manila Bay by the marine artist of the International Food Company. Admiral George Dewey led the U.S. Navy to a victory over the Spanish fleet with much destruction inflicted on the enemy and little damage done to the American ships. International Stock Food Company was owned by Marion Savage, a Minnesota-based entrepreneur for whom the town of Savage, Minnesota, was named. Savage bought record-breaking harness race horse Dan Patch to help promote his business.

Handwritten leather bound ledger recording the names of Hennepin County members of the Grand Army of the Republic. veterans organization. Written in one hand by a single unidentified recorder. Entry information covers two pages across and includes name, age at time of joining the G.A.R., place of birth, current residence, occupation, service history, death date if known.
Diary of Sgt. Philip Olson who served in World War I with the 25th Regiment Engineers, United States Army. After his enlistment, he departed New York for France on October 31, 1917, aboard the transport ship Agamemnon. The journey was eventful due to fears about German U-boats, and an accident which involved their ship being rammed. Upon arrival in France, Olson took part in a number of projects including the building of a docks and doing engineering at the front in Verdun. In addition, he had various duties including working for the supply sergeant, warehouse work, and distributing kits through camp. These duties were performed in a number of locations in France including Brest, Bordeaux, Verdun, and Paris. At the close of the war, Olson took a trip to Monaco and Monte Carlo. After the signing of the Armistice in November 1918, Olson stayed for a time in France. During this time, he and the 25th Engineers aided in construction and rebuilding projects. In March of 1919, Olson returned to the United States by way of New York.

The roster was accepted by the War Records Committee for the dedication of trees on the Victory Memorial Driveway, held June 11, 1921. Includes a supplement with additional names to be honored on May 30, 1922.

This volume tells the story of Base Hospital 26, which was formed at the University of Minneota and organized by Dr. Sam Robinson, chest surgeion on the Mayo Clinic staff. The dates of operation for the Base Hospital 26 were Dec. 15, 1917, to May 3, 1919. It was mobilized and trained in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and arrived in Fort McPherson, Georgia, on Dec. 31, 1917. Major Arthur A. Law of Minneapolis was the director. The unit trained with other units in Georgia and by March 1918 the personnel had increased to a number sufficient for a 1,000-bed hospital. Base Hospital 26 staff were the first to arrive at the Hospital Center in Allerey, France, where they began to set up hospital services to aid the soldiers in World War I. The Rochester men enlisted in that city and were sworn in by Dr. Robinson, recruiting officer and organizer.
Cyrus Foss Chamberlain died while serving in the Foreign Legion of the French Army as a candidate for the Lafayette Flying Corps. This book of correspondence was published for family and friends. The letters, written to his mother and father, describe the last year of Chamberlain's life and his experiences in WWI.

1941-03-06 correspondence, to John Blatnick (Senator), George Lowman (Senator), George Herried (Senator), Fred Cina, et al. from unknown (University of Minnesota, Mines Experiment Station), regarding the creation of a taconite tax bill.
The Commissary Officer of the First Regiment of the Minnesota Mounted Rangers, First Lieutenant Edward D. Cobb, wrote this note to Captain Eugene St. Julien Cox, Captain of Company E of the Rangers, from Fort Snelling on March 21, 1863, in response to a request for supplies from Cox. Captain Cox had requested a number of items, including horses, tents, jackets, socks, boots, haversacks, canteens, axes, kettles, spades, mess pans, hatchets, and picks. Cobb informed Cox that some of the items were available, but that some items could not be supplied at once. He also said that Cox was to take the lame horses from his company to Fort Ridgely, where they would be inspected and certified as lame. Cox could then submit a requistion for additional horses.
Ticket for the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, starting June 7, 1892. This specific ticket is for entry on Day 5 of the convention, Session 2, and for Balcony Section A, Seat No. 93. It features images of an eagle and Minnehaha Falls, and includes the detached stub.
