Over 100 persons, many of them children, are seated on wooden benches on and in front of the platform. The men are dressed in suits, the women in light colored summer dresses with long sleeves and high necks and are hatted. Some of the boys in front hold hats in their laps. They are here to hear the visiting preacher and they may "camp" there for several days.

Camp meeting at Nicollet, Minnesota, probably near the Brighton Church. A tent is in the background, maybe a cook tent. One can see dishes, even glassware with stems, on the front table. A coffeepot holds the place of honor at the head, and another pot rests on the ground at the foot of a women seated at the rear table. Also, a board walk leads into the tent, although, here, one of the tables is placed over it. Trees surround the scene, as in the first picture.

The Evangelical Headquarters Dining Hall was a fundraiser for the Evangelical Hospital and Deaconess Home in St. Paul. This Hospital became the West Side General Hospital. The aprons were donated by the Washburn -Crosby Mill. Rev. J. M. Baitinger, President of the hospital in his newsletter the "LifeLine", December 1914, thanked the Washburn-Crosby people saying, "the apron catches the eye and the gold metal flour satisfies their stomachs. We want to thank the Washburn-Crosby people for furnishing us with these beautiful caps and aprons, neatly and artistically made."

A photograph showing the exterior of the two story brick structure. The congregation began in 1878, building this structure in 1922-24 with a dedication service on January 20, 1924. The cost of the building was $37,000. It was located on 4th St. South and was sold to a Baptist group in 1961 when a new Methodist Church was built.

The Evangelical Headquarters Dining Hall was a fundraiser for the Evangelical Hospital and Deaconess Home in St. Paul. This Hospital became the West Side General Hospital. The group is sitting at the "Rail-O'matic" serving machine also known as "Baitinger's Automatic Eat". This device patented in 1923 helped serve hungry visitors at the Minnesota State Fair, Evangelical Dining Hall. In the spring 1919 edition of the "Life Line", the newsletter of the Evangelical Hospital and Deaconess Home, Rev. Baitinger describes it like this, "All foodstuffs will be automatically conveyed to the guests seated at the table, also all return dishes will find their way back into the kitchen automatically. No waiters will be necessary in this dining hall; everything will take care of itself. The only business of the guest is to take what he wants, all he wants and eat to his heart's content."

Dinner for delegates of the General Conference of the Evangelical Association in 1899 held at the Pine Street church in St. Paul. Bishops Horn, Breyfogel and Bowman are identified in the photograph. "St. Paul Pine Street church extended the invitation for the General Conference of the Evangelical Association to hold its annual meeting in St. Paul. A vacant store building was rented and fitted up for a dining hall and kitchen on the first floor. The second floor was made into sleeping apartments" (Utzinger's History of the Minnesota Conference of the Evangelical Association 1856 to 1922, p. 181). This is the only time the General Conference met in Minnesota. To finance the event offerings were taken at all of the Minnesota Conference congregations and $403.29 was raised.

St. Cloud Methodist Episcopal Church, founded 1857, was built 1911 and dedicated May 24, 1914. It was located at the corner of Fifth Ave. and Third Street South. Constructed of St. Cloud granite and brick it was called a "20th Century Church" and was 54 feet by 80 feet and cost $24,000 to build. Later named First Methodist it is currently First United Methodist Church. Written on the back: "Wells, Minnesota, Oct. 2, 1915, Mr. Lyman F. Morris, Deloit, Iowa, Crawford Co., Dear Father, We are to move to St. Bend.(?), next week. We are busy packing. P.S. All well. Lovingly Will."

A lithographed postcard depicting four protestant churches: Presbyterian, First Baptist, Congregational and the First M. E. Church. The Methodist Episcopal Church was built in 1878 and was budgeted to cost $6000. The cost went over budget by $2000. At the dedication in December 1, 1878 an offering was received of $2583 and no money needed to be borrowed. Written on the back: "Miss Xenia Regan 2135 Monroe Ave., San Diego, Cal., Dear Xenia, Was very much delighted to hear from you. had been looking for a card from you for a very long time. Was glad to hear you like your new home so much. So you are going to finish school before I do. Do you intend to go on to school after you finsih this? I am taking the Normal Training course this year so expect to teach next year. I like it very much.We have certinly had some lovely weather this winter. No one bit cold. The stone on the outside of the building is pipestone and is said to be one of only a few churches in Minnesota to use this material." The lot was purchased from Olive Skinner and the deed was dated February 25, 1878. The worth of the building at that time was placed at $2500. Edward McCann pastor from May 10, 1908 until fall conference 1909, when transferred to Onamia-Wahkon charge. Note the stars and stripes flying in the doorway. The church was a short distance to the left. Parsonage was "air conditioned", Plenty chance for air to get in thought openings between logs."

It had been under construction for several years previous to the dedication. Most of the labor was donated and the lumber was cut off the farms of the members. Henry Bowers helped shingle the roof. These same shingles lasted until 1955 when Rev. Erdman almost fell off the roof during the reshingling.

Originally a Congregational Church, Triumph Methodist Episcopal Church was dedicated in 1893.The church was moved from its country site in Elm Creek township to Monterey in 1900. The church was moved again in 1902 to a spot exactly midway between the depot at Triumph and the depot at Monterey. A new church building replaced this one in 1955. Written on the back: "Miss Alice Brown, Mora, Minnesota,from Lake City, S.D., Dear friends, Just a card to let you know I am still awaiting an answer to my last letter. We are having our second winter colder than Greenland. The last few days with some snow. I hope it soon warms up, and spring comes to stay. My school closes may 11th. I hope to hear from you before I leave here, ans. soon, G.E.S."

A postcard showing the exterior of the Fairmont M. E. church. Fairmont Methodist Episcopal Church was built in 1878. The lot was purchased in 1877 from A. L. Ward for the sum of $100, with the stipulation that unless it was used for a church it would revert to its original owner. In 1878 a neat little frame church was built. In 1894 a second frame building, with a seating capacity of 650 people, was built. $4000 of the $7000 building debt was paid before the dedication and at the dedication service the remaining $3000 was raised.
