My dearest Mamma.
Your letter came last evening. You urge me to be careful, but dont [sic] say a work about yourself. I am as strong & well as can be and my sickness was only a cold, and that is now nearly well, it began to be better as soon as I began going out, going to the carnival seemed to act like a charm. It is so funny about my colds, the very worst colds I ever have come wh in the most mysterious way when I have not been doing any thing reckless, and as long as I take special care of myself any cold
