My dearest Jule,
Your letter came on Friday evening, and was very welcome. I should imagine from the way you wrote that Mame is the same restless, unsatisfactory, uncomfortable visitor that she has been ever since the change came over her. I never knew any one to change so completely as she has, she has been as entirely different (from the Mame Hiller I loved so much) these last eight years, as tho[ugh] she was an entirely different person who had come to fill her Mames place.
