time the first supply of
leather had arrived and
has now jumped to 68 before
the second shipment of leather was cxhausted,without
any apparent slackening of
the demand.
At the present rate,
the entire Company will be
engaged in leathcrwork by
the end of February,
As the miner surpluses
accumulate, tools arc purchased for the use of the
class. At first, only the
more essential tools were
ordered, but as time gees
on this basic supply will
bo augmented with a greater
variety of stamps, dies, &
aives.

Camp Ground_Work
Under leader Ed Nor-
lund, a crew of men is engaged at the Portage River
Cabins in building a group
of log tables and benches,
and tables for the partly-
completed Sioux River Canp
Ground. The work will continue at least another fcur
weeks, then in tho spring,
the work of installation at
Sioux will be comploted. A
^siroilar set has been completed at Fenske Lake.

AT LONG LAKE
* In the very near future the usual winter lakes
survey will begin. A 4-man
crew will begin work at
Long Lake, near Burntsido.

on under the supervision
of Roman Olson, Wild Life
Assistant of the U. S.Forestry Service.
This winter survey
work consists of securing,
as completely as possible,
dak a relative to lake area,
shoreline, bottom soil types, s?ioreline types, surrounding timber types, the
presence of beaver dams, a
study of water content,and
a brief report of all game
sighted in the vicinity,together with comment and
suggestions for fish-plant
ing; etc. Later on the Fish
and Game department uses a
part of this data in restocking projects and the
like.
Later on an additional 4-iinn crew may be add-
to this work*
