yesterday won the
first annual Dul-
uth-to-St.Paul SKI
Marathon when he
covered the 153-
mile run in the
time of 28 hours,
44 minutes and 32
seconds.
In second place
was another Dul-

Swenson, who made
the trip in sixteen minutes over
the winner's tine,
A Virginia youth,
Reuben Silvola,is
the third-place—
winner while Hart
vig Strand, Minneapolis, came in
in the fourth pos
ition.
The skiers began from
Duluth last Friday noon, &
stopped at designated places along the way for the
night. The time for each
man's daily run was carried
over to the succeeding day
until the totals had been
reached.
The marathon, the first
of its kind in Minnesota ,
was staged as a part of St.
Paul's Winter Carnival.
POOL, WHIST TO
BEGIN ACTIVITIES
Company 711's gala,
mid-winter Carnival began
this evening with the 1st
two events, the pool and
whist tournaments being
run off in the Hoc Hall.
All of the indoor e-
vents will of necessitj'- ,
be run off during the evening on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The outdoor events will be held
principally on Saturday-,
in the afternoon. If necessary, any remaining events will be taken care
of on Sunday afternoon.

AHLGREJT TAKEN TO-HOSPITAL
Arthur Ahlgren, of the
Forestry Personnel was today taken to the hospital,
in Elyt as a result of an
ailment that has been bothering him for some time.
He was taken to Ely
previously for an x-ray of
his chest but^was later on
taken "back to'the hospital
at 711.
With the arrival in
carp of our new Junior Officer, Lieut. Baker.interest
in the newly suggested dramatics class has steadily
risen. Due to the remodeling work being done in the
Theatre, however, the initial meeting of the proposed class has of need
been delayed. By next week
we hope to have some definite date established for
the first Thespian group
ever organized at 711.
