TO CIVILIAN LIFE
END OF MARCH
The end of March marks the end
of another enrollment period and
many a love-lorn lad will find himself
going back among parents and friends
(where all those perfumed, S. W. A. K.
letters come from).
Then what! That's a question that

few are assured of steady employment
when they are discharged. How they
have spent their time while here,
whether studying to improve themselves or merely idling away time,
will mean a great deal in their efforts
to find employment.
Twenty of the men listed below
have been enrolled the two year limit
and must now accept discharges. The
remainder of the names compose the
list of those who thus far have signified their desire to leave, having
finished one or more six-month enrollment periods.
Some of  the men  have been out
standing in many ways and have fixed
themselves indelible in our memories.
Some, it seems, have been here so long
that   their   absence   will be like a
missing front tooth.    All have made
some special  friends   and   comrades
who join us in wishing them all the
very best of good fortune.

Dedication Features
Dinner and Program
Our Skipper, Capt. J. W. Leighton.
Inf. Res., returned to duty Saturday,
March 4, after a month leave during
which he visited several states enroute
to Florida. On the return trip he
skirted the eastern coast, stopped at
Washington, D. C, and visited many
points of great interest. Among other
things he saw Congress in action and
visited the Vice President's office.
Thereafter he came across country
back to this cold North country.
The trip apparently did him no
harm as he came back looking fine,
rested, and with a healthy glow of
sun tan.
Capt. Leighton Back   SUPERIOR SUB-DISTRICT CAMPS
From Leave LOQK   FORWARD  TO  ONE   DAY
OF INTER-CAMP ACTIVITIES HERE
The camps in the Sub-District are
eagerly looking forward to a day of
of intercamp activity to be held at
Company 2710 on March 18, 1939 for
for which plans are rapidly being
completed.
All the details have not been com-
pleted at thiswritinghiit. all the co
panies have indicated a desire for this
type of activity and plans are going
ahead rapidly to include basketball,
boxing, ping pong, pool, spelling bee,
first aid demonstration and a "Professor Quiz."
The basketball tournament will be
held at the Two Harbors High School.
The boxing, ping pong and pool will
be held in the recreation hall of this
company. The first aid demonstration, spelling bee, and "Professor
Quiz" will be held in our new Educational building.
It is expected that a team trophy
will be given for basketball and individual trophies to the winners in all
other events.
The winner and runner up in the
Basketball tournament will be sent to
the district basketball tournament
which will likely be held March 25th.
The officials for all events will be
selected from the supervisory personnel of the various camps.
It may be necessary for some of
the more distant contestants to remain here over night. In that event
the barracks formerly occupied as an
educational building will be used for
these men.
Let's not forget that all contestants
are our guests and treat them with
the respect they deserve.
The formal dedication of the new
Educational Building will be Friday.
March 17th. The program includes a
special dinner at 6:00 in the Mess
Hall. At 7:00in the New Educational
Building there will be presentation of
Certificates to enrollees and short
talks by Mr. Brickley, Mayor of Two
Harbors; Mr. Campton, Supt. of
Schools; District, Sub-District and
camp officials. Immediately following
this a few boxing matches, wrestling
and tumbling will be held in the
recreation hall.
The German band of Two Harbors
will provide music.
Several distinguished guests are
expected from Two Harbors and
Duluth.
Lt. Wheeling
Returns to 719
Lt. L. E. Wheeling who served as
Junior Officer to assist Lt. Spear in
the management of company affairs
during Capt. Leighton's leave, left
Monday March 6, to return to Co.
719, Brimson, again. Before leaving
this company he purchased a new
Ford V8 and is making plans for a
leave pretty soon during which time
he will roll down to Missouri.
Flash—Dance Set
Friday, Mar. 24th
Approval has just been made
of plans for a Company Dance
to be held Friday evening,
March 24th in the recreation
hall of this company. An
orchresta will be secured and
publicity    will     be     procured
j   through radio and newspapers.
i Announcements will be distributed in ample time for mailing
I   to "the girl I left behind."
