With his eyes popping out and hair •
standing on end, the canteen steward of . !
Co. 72-7, West Plains, Mo*, jumped into :
his bunk and covered himself from heiid to,;
foot. He was scared stiff. He thought of •
all the- bad things ho had done — Oh, if :
only he had another chance. . -. :.
The shooting continued. Pop'. Pop'. Pop ! •
It v/as cold, everything in the Canteen •
v/as freezing. What if he would bo shot ■
and his body dragged out into the woods ;
and left to the woivos '. The bed shimmied. ;
Came the dawn and the very scared j
veung man peeked fro- under the covers. !
be got up, looking around cautiously»■ - :
Soon he discovered that last night's shooting was only pop bottles whan they froze.;
Quiet new reigns on the soda fountain •

comes the announcement that the, Company' ■
basketball team launched an impressive '. '
drive for honors in the Minnesota Inde-. :
pendant basketball league by taking three ;
consecutive games in five days.    .  .  •
Askov v/as the first victim, 27 to 11. '■
Next tho Polk County Champs of Luck, Wis, :
were trimmed, 34 to 32 in a thrilling [
over'-.ime battle. Then the rival camp, ;
Co. 2706 Was third on the list and were •
nosed out, 24 to,22. '

"Farm Economics" Is the star class in ■
the Echo Trail. College, the ..Camp School ;
of Company 713, Ely, Minnesota. This
school is made up of. onrcllc.es, who....in-. :
tend to go back to the farm after they. :
leave the CCC. •
Unlike r.ny other schools- so remote ;
from civilization (the camp being 44 miles-
fron the nearest town) this school has- no :
educational facilities. There are no sop- :
aratc school buildings or class roons.
Classes meet in the mess hall or on the •
porch of tho officer's cabin.
About 1S3 students attend classes here.:
Y.W.C.A. DANCE HELD
Last Saturday evening the members of
this Company and several girls clubs cf
the St. Paul Y.W.C.A. held a dancing
party jointly in the latter's building.
About 150 p'rsens attended..
Alt'- ough there was a shortage cf boys
present, everyone, had a gcod time. ..Most
of the boys got quite a kick cut of the
roller skating, and skated until the gym
v/as closed. Our company orchestra furnished musiv for t' e dancing, and many
compliments were made 'en their playing.
During the intermission a lunch of
cookies and c^coa v/as served. The preparation of the lunch v/as under the direction of Robert Hedrick and Earl Norris.
On Monday,* February 25th, the members
of our Company Entertainment Committee
v/ill meet the girl's committee at the
St. Paul Y. . ;C.A. building to discuss
plans for another dance tc be held in th°
near future,
It v/as sort of hinted by those in
charge of the girl's clubs last Saturday
night, that the best night of the week
nad the most suitable for both groups
would be Monday night.
ENTERTAINMENT AT POST CHAPEL
On Tuesday evening Henry Charming
Beebe, famous travelcrand explorer related some of his personal experiences
in the jungle with wild beasts, wild men
arid wild things. The program, in the
Post Chapel, began at 7 P.M.
The stories which were very amusing-
as thoy were full cf thrills and laughs
dealt v/ith elephants, hippopotamuses,
monkeys, crocodiles,'snakes, gorillas,
lions and tigers!
Also on the program, was tho Faubell
Novelty Hour with Gladys Faubell who
did some very brilliant and clever imp-
serscnations and acts" of ventriloquism.
