Vol. II, Number 4
Fort Snel
■ PbROI I_h_5HT OF CCCS
In the past week we have witnessed
the coming and going of new men into
the Civilian Conservation Corps. TTp to
date the record of new men who have pass
ed through Fort Snelling exceeds the
total of 2000, with a total of about
800 sent to Northern Minnesota.
ilso this week, men from tbe Sand
'Country of Kansas arrived in Fort
Snelling, these men are to be assigned
to Kansas Companies in Northern Minn.
It v/as a great pleasure indeed for th
ese boys many of whom, v/ere never so far
North before, but soon found out that
this country was a whole lot better than
that Sand country of theirs.
Kansas men will leave Thursday night
to go still farther North where this
timethey may see ice and snow for the
first time, but tbe boys have been hearing great talks on this country of ours
up in the North Woods, all about that
great man called Paul ^unyan and. many
other woodsmen of the past age. "'any
"hope to see the big Pines and the mighty
Forests of our nation, we wish best of
luck to the boys, they something worth
while to see.
After this enrollment period is over
■a'd the quota for this state filled
i question of new Camps will still
have to be decided on, whether they be
built or not. Ho one at the present
' time ~nows but it is expected, that witb-
inthe next month or so a definite progran
. will be laid out and that new enrollment:
•will again be in full swing.
It is further expected that the age
li lits for entering the CCC will be exte-1
nded and give the young men of the country v/ho have been denied enrollment for
some time a chance to enter the Civilian
Conservation Corps.
Rev/ that the boys have been enrolled
and sent out let us hope that they enjoy
their six month of Camp life to the
fullest extent that the CCCs v/as
intended.

SUM PR
Now that we have a few showers once
in a while, let us think of that season
of the year when we best enjoy ourselves..
In the past week v/e have witnessed a
few Send storms and other misirable
weather that we often say, " "/hen
is it going to clear up ", and get
discouraged v/ith everything in general.
But now that the weather has cleared
up, the sky blue once more, and the
bright moon of the evening comes up
it is time to forget the cold wintery
months that v/e often spend in this
Northern part of the country.
Just of late it has been one great
pleasure to see the sun out bright
in the morning, v/ith the warm breeze
hitting one's face, seeming like a new
day was born, making it a starting day
as if a new goal had to be reached.
Soon ovr Sunr.er activities will be
arranged and it is hoped that every
member of t'-e Company makes every
effort to cooperate with the commandant
in putting through the plans for the
Sumner.
have a great summer ahead and it
is up to every one to make tho best
of everything, put your earnest power
in all that you undertake, even to
enjoyment, and later on you can say
that " The Summer of 1905 v/as indeed a
good one " .
Many of the men will of course devote
some tine to the Cities, but the activity
*ti the Company v/ill still carry or,
making it worth while in every way in
carrying on the program that has beer-
slated for the sum"-or.
Lot us hope also that the coming
summer will bring to every one of the
Gompany a summer of great activity
earnest work and much enjoyment to all,
so lots all stick together and make
the Company one organization where all
its members can be -.roud of.
Summer lasts but a fow months in this
Northern part of the country so lets take
all its benefits.
