The Nortufield Arts Guild Board of Directors met at Myrna Johnson's home. Members
present were Mathre, Pollansbee, Butler, Johnson, Buck, Mears, & Wing.
The minutes of October 12 were read and approved as read.
The Treasurerer's report was given, accepted and placed on file. Mrs. Mears
suggested that the building loa n should be refinanced. Jon Buck will be chairman
to check on refinancing.
Helen Mears made a motion that all bills be paid, seconded by Jon Buck and carried.
Myrna Johnson reported that the Creative writing group is not meeting this year as
not many people responded. Stan Prear will help organize the group in the fall.
Ginny B utler reported for the art group. Children's bus trip to the art Institute
was successful and another trip should be scheduled. The Haworth lecture series could
use more enrollment. There is no teacher as yet, for the spring sessions. The
senior citizens have expresses: a wish for free or nominal fee art classes. Some discus!
ion followed with general agreement that the Guild is not in a position to offer
this at the present time.
Elaine Kringen reported for the dance group. Second sessions are now in progress.
Elaine is teaching the adult classes, and Bobbie Olson will teach children's classes.
A demonstration will be given on Sunday, March 27.
Myrna Johnson reportedfoP the drama group. The 3-act play still needs 2 male cast
members. Mrs. Don Langworthy is the director. Some discussion followed concerning
the creative drama classes. Marilyn Carver has suggested that there should be a
contract with instructors to avoid any misunderstandings as to salary etc. Board
members voted to table the issue un til another meeting, possibly present it before
the membership at the annual meeting.
Donna Mathre reported on the Beau Arts Ball. Rick Clausen's 4-piece band has been
hired for a fee of $145.00. The Ball will be Saturday, Peb. 12 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
In Mardi Gras tradition it will be both costume and formal. Mary Lou Street is
chairman of the food committee. There will be a coronation of a king and a small
program.
Myrna Johnson reported -for the music group. Amahl has been postponed until next year
because of the illness of Russ Pesola. H e will have try-outs beginning in April or
May with rehearsals beginning in September.
The second annual Musicale will be Sunday, April 24.
The Arts Pair committee, Claire Erlckson, Dorothy Rossing & Joan Reitz have met.
Letters to exhibitors will go out probably the first week in February. The Pair
will be a two-day festival June 18 and 19. Pour performances of a children's operetta
will be given with rehearsals beginning before sJahool closes. Displays will be open
on Saturday June 18 with afternoon & evening operetta performances. Sunday's
program will include things for sale, guest exhibits & Pundways booths, and the art
auction. The auction will be earlier in the afternoon than previously. There will
