BOOKS FOR THE DAKOTaS
There is no helper so gcod as the one who
is always with us. A book is a helper that
we can carry anywhere. A visit to a big book
store or a public library teaches us that we
may learn also that there are books of many
kinds and for many purposes; books for
children and for learned people ; books for all
kinds of people. How many people are reading! How hungry their minds seem to be for
what is in books !
The Dakota people need books to help them.
And I wish to tell from time to time what
kind of books they need. First they need the
Bible. That is a book that every one in the
world needs. It tells of God and of his dealings with men. That book has doue more for
the Dakota people than any other book. They
have bad it in their own language for a long
time. Those who read English cau have just
what they want from the many that are printed.
Make sure that the print is large and clear.
I think that the "Topical Helps Bible" is the
best for the Dakotas, because it is printed in
large, clear type. It has topics or subjects
which help us to study the Bible in an orderly way, and the maps are good.
I have Bibles on hand in cloth binding and
large clear print for $1.45 to $2.00. And in
leather binding $2.75 and higher. Send to me
for an English Bible and send as much money
as you want to pay and I will send the book
