Books for the Dakotas
The students of I he Bible has need for those
books which I have already-listed. First a
Bible in a good clear type, and I think that
the American Revision will be most useful to
the Dakotas. Then a Bible Dictionary is a
great help to a clearer understanding of the
Bible. Of these I have already written in
previous papers.
A Bible Concordance or text finder is very
useful to those who have some knowledge of
the Scriptures already. The b°st help is to be
had from a Concordance when a text is known
but we do net know where to find it. Or maybe we know a word or two and our concordance helps us to find the verse in the book
where it is, without the labor of hunting
through many books and chapters to &Dd it.
Cruden's Concordance @ $2.00 and Walker's
at $3.00 are about the best in the small volume handy sizes. Sometimes we can get
what we waut from the concordance found in
a teacher's Bible. Hazard's Concordance of
the Revised Version may be had for $5:00.
A Bible Geography is a very great help to Bi
ble study. To know the lands of the Bible
with their important places, mountains, rivers and plains. To'be able to tell the nature of
the land of Palestine, its climate,- soil' and
from' ! which direction rain, heat, cold or
strong winds will come, is most useful knowledge in.understanding the words of Jesus or of
the prophets. For maps Hurlbut's Bible Atlas is probably the best at $3.50. For all
around knowledge of the animals, trees,
winds, soil', and customs of the Bible people
Schmauk's Bible Geography is best. I do
not know the price. A book that combines
some of the good features of these two geographies is the Historical Geography of Bible
Lands by John B. Calkin at $1.25. For a
combined concordance, atlas and many other
valuable helps for Bible study the Illustrated
Bible Treasury edited by William Wright at
$1.00. is in compact form. I will be glad to
