Game Tournaments
Collette Lyons, who is in
charge of the Bridge and Ping-
Pong tournaments, wishes to thank
all those who signed up. Both
tournaments are now in progress.
There was a fairly large turn-out,
but it is too bad that there wasn't
more enthusiasm shown.
The following are partners for
the Bridge tournament: Strifert
and Withers, Saari and Thomas,
Hesse and (Partner), Wooldridge
and Weir, Springer and VanKirk,
Lentz and Tryon, Lyons and Par-
lova, Arnold and Herron, Schneider and Maley, and Macken and
Pesch.
Those who turned out for the
Ping-Pong tournament include:
Williams and Trygstad, Larson
and Rose, Fiegel and Zielski, Fryer
and Hexum, Daly and Pennington, Hedberg and Hailing, Macken
and VanKirk, Pesch and Holland,
and Patterson and Funk.
Both tournaments promise to be
exciting. Results will be posted
in the near future.

PARTY TO FEATURE LENA THE HYENA
Wayne Field gives veterans'  viewpoint of Junior Colleges at open house
OPEN HOUSE
DEEMED SUCCESS
On Tuesday evening, November
12, Rochester Junior College held
its annual open house for students
and parents in Coffman Hall. The
program was opened at eight
o'clock by Miss DeEtte Magee
who, after extending a greeting to
the guests, introduced Mr. Philip
Bach and Mr. David Reyno who
played two piano and violin duet
selections. Miss Magee next presented Dean R. W. Goddard who
gave an enlightening talk on the
problems which are being reckoned
with this year at Rochester Junior
College. He mentioned among
other things the greatly increased
enrollment and the acute lack of
space which this large enrollment
has made painfully apparent. Dean
Goddard remarked that in the next
years J. C. can expect an even
greater number of students and
will probably have to spread its
classes out over the city. He stated that this system is not desirable,
but may be necessary.
Dean Goddard's talk was followed by a selection of Hawaiian
and Philippine folk tunes which
Mr. Reyno sang and accompanied
on his guitar. Miss Magee then
introduced Mr. Emil Heintz, director of the Rochester Evening Col
lege, who presented an interesting
talk on the vocational education in
the Junior College. He was followed by Mr. Wayne Field, president of the sophomore class, who
discussed the place of the veterans
in the junior college. The program was concluded by Professor
Karl1 Dubbert who played the
xylophone and Mrs. Heintz who
accompanied him on the piano.
They played Kreisler's Liebesfreud,
The Rosary by Nevin, and Argo-
naise by Massenet.
After the program, Mrs. Chaffee
served refreshments of coffee and
cakes. There was also on display
an interesting collection of art
work, paintings and sketches by
Rosalee Goddard and Robert Griffin.
The faculty committee in charge
of the event included Miss Alice
Endicott, chairman, Miss Flora
McGhee and Mr. Karl Dubbert.
Mixed Chorus
Solicits Members
The mixed chorus meets every
Tuesday night at seven-thirty. The
director, Mr. Suddendorf, invites
anyone who is interested to come,
because there is a need for more
voices, especially in the tenor department-    Boys, grab your pipes
GROUP PLANS DANCES
It's a bird! No, it's a plane!
No, it's Leona the Hyena! Yes,
the social committee is at it again,
and this time they've cooked up a
get-together Dogpatch Style. The
committee has decided that R.J.C.
needs a little more activity, so on
November 22, Friday, the girls
take over. During the day, everyone is to wear clothes appropriate
to the occasion. The day will be
climaxed by a girl-ask-boy party in
the North Gym at 8:30 until 1:00
with the music by Art Hall. There
will be dancing, eating and entertainment to please even the most
finicky, under the direction of
DeEtt Magee, decorations; Aline
Jennings, program; and Glenn
Sower, food. The high point of
the evening will be the awarding
of prizes for well, come and find
out. The food will be served at
midnight to take care of all those
late comers.
But, this able social committee
consisting of Martha and Nancy
Anderson, co-chairmen, Robert
Bahr, Dot Dickson, Tony Lund
and Larry Haggerty has made
other plans for the forthcoming
year. December 14 there will be a
Winter Formal in anticipation of
the Christmas holiday. Committees for this party will be announced soon. The high point of
the spring will be the annual
Spring Formal, but that's a long
way off, so spend your time getting acquainted under the able direction of the social committee.
Then, spring will be here all the
sooner.

the merry throng and sing.
The chorus is working on some
Christmas pieces now, which will
get everyone in the mood for
sleighing and other holiday festivities.
The chorus now has thirty-two
members: Joyce Miller, Gloria
Harkness, Dixie Haas, Beverly
Hanson, Helen Doyle, Joan Hanson, Marcene McGlothlin, Lorraine Beyer, Maxine ' Cavanaugh,
