DANCE TO FEATURE CEC TURNER BAND
SLEIGH-RIDE
SLATED FOR
TONIGHT
The Social Committee and the
Booster Club put their heads together a few weeks ago and came
up with a "SlayJAyd" which will
take place tonight, February 7th.
Actually, the Social Committee is
in charge of the sleigh ride half of
the evening, while the Booster
Club is managing the dance afterwards. In any case, the party
planning has been more or less a
cooperative effort between the two
groups. Dick Hexum secured the
sleighs, and Warren Wiese appropriated the music which will be
furnished by the Rhythm Club,
a hot little outfit which from all
reports is really jivey. The decorations will be novel, but what
can one expect but originality
FAMOUS LAST WORDS
Jim Schneider: "Does anybody want to buy a picture?
They're cheaper than down
at Mo'sing's."
Miss Ingli: "Sh-h-h-h-h-h
There's too much noise in
here."
Mary Kepler: "I can't eat;
I'm on a diet."
Gordie Maley: "Draw
one!"
Collette Lyon: "Let's
play bridge."
Jesse Bollman:
Not a test today!
a Lost Weekend."
Miss Endicott:
this on the blackboard."
Don Kleist: "I'U beat you
up."
Marcene McGlothlin: (censored) .
Dick McDermott: "Tee-
hee-hee-hee!!!"
Virginia Boler: "We
laughed like fiends."
DickPodolske: "Let's have
one short beer!"
Mr. Brown: "This is a short,
simple quiz."
Allen Wiese: "Hot damn!'
when a committee including Joan
Hanson, Frankie Markell, Marcy
McGlothlin, Maxine Cavanaugh,
and Barb Hallett is in charge?
After two hours in the wind and
the weather, it is natural for students to be hungry — so — Mary
Elton, Claire Budde, Genoa
Knight, Lorraine Beyer, and Peg
Johnson are supervising the food
department. Incidentally, the original posters which have been
plastered up in the Junior College
halls were painted and inked by
various members of the Booster
Club. Warren (Pooch) Wiese's
unorthodox sign on the student
bulletin board would net him an
F in any spelling class, but it is
also hoped that it will help net a
good turnout at the party. So—
bundle up in your warm clothes
tonight and join the fun. Meet
at school at 7:30. Dance at the
North Gym from 9:30 'til 1:00
A good time is guarnateed for
everyone.

ANNUAL STAFF
DISCUSSES POLICIES
On Thursday, January 23rd,
the annual staff held a meeting. At
this meeting, over which Miss Matt
presided, several issues concerning
the year book were decided. The
committees working on the book
were definitely appointed, and the
sections were thoroughly discussed.
It was decided to omit the faculty
members from the opening section,
and instead, spread them informally throughout the rest of the
book. The staff also agreed that
the book would not be bound. For
one thing, the printers and engravers interviewed refused to accept
the job if the annual was to be
bound, and for another thing, the
binderies would not be able to get
it done. It was also agreed that
the book was to be largely informal, and that informal pictures
rather than the stiff, out-dated formal ones were to be used. The
meeting closed with the idea that
each section was to be fully outlined by the lfth of February, and
that Sophomore pictures were to be
arranged for at once.
Students To
Hear Operetta
Tomorrow, February 8th, four
students from Junior College will
be flown to Minneapolis to hear
the operetta, Sigmund Romberg's
"New Moon." The purpose of
the trip is to develop interest in the
operetta before it comes to Rochester, Saturday, February 22nd.
There is a purpose behind the
purpose, however, and also benefits
for Junior College. Mr. Sidney
King, a teacher at the University
of Minnesota, is helping to raise
funds for a camp for young people
in Northern Minnesota. The proceeds from the operetta, which is a
non-profit production, will help
finance the camp. However, the
best part of the arrangement is that
fifteen per cent of the net receipts
go for a scholarship which the
Dean is to dispense as he sees fit.
When the operetta is presented in
Rochester, students will be allowed
to see it for 75c instead of $1.10.
The operetta, therefore, will not
only be of value culturally, but
also financially.
The students who are to be
flown up Saturday were picked
from various departments by the
faculty. There will be one representative each from chorus, dramatics, publications, and intrumental
music. These students will be
placed in private homes Saturday
night, and will be flown back on
Sunday morning.

VALENTINE'S DAY
PROVIDES THEME
The Valentine's Dance, which is
to be FORMAL, wil be held February 15th, from 9:00 to 1:00,
at the Masonic Temple. The price
will be $1.00 per couple, and one
person in each couple must attend
Junior College. The dance, which
is featuring Cec Turner—his band
and his music, is taking the place
of the Christmas dance, which as
we all know, never materialized.
An able committee has been working in close cooperation to provide
J. C. with the event. The decorations, which will be red and white
to follow through the Valentine's
theme, are being carried out under
the guidance of Phyllis Hendricks,
and Dot Dickson is taking charge
of the food. Nancy Anderson,
Martha Anderson, and Liz 'McConnell are working on the publicity angle. Nancy is taking care
of the programs, Liz is providing
the Post Bulletin with publicity,
and Martha is sending the invitations to the school board, the faculty, and the chaperones. Tony
Lund deserves mention, for it was
through his efforts that the Masonic Temple was secured. He managed to obtain it through a lucky
and appropriate cancellation. The
dance promises to be a gala affair,
so boys, choose your favorite valentine and join the fun.
DEAN TO SPEAK
AT CONVOCATION
At 9:50 on Monday, February
10th, there will be an assembly for
Junior College students in the Central auditorium. The assembly
will be a preview of the new semester and will inulude items of importance to all and sundry. Dean
Goddard will open the convocation
with a brief, pertinent talk on
points of vital interest to J. C.
students. He will be followed by
members of the variols groups in
J. C. who will give short outlines
of some of the extra-curricular activities. Jesse Bollman will sketch
athletics, the Varsity Club, and the
Booster Club. Rajesters and Music
Club will be outlined by Dick Patterson, and Mary Kepler will review the work of the Publications
Deparment—the Echo, the annual,
and the Gamma Rho Society. The
Anderson sisters, Nancy and Martha, will present the activities of
the Social Committee and Phi-
Theta-Kappa respectively, and
Marcy McGlothlin will outline the
functions and work of the Student
Council. The program will be of
special interest to everyone, and attendance is requested for all students, especially those new in Junior College.
