Cdee. £aM04t Elected
2ueea an 'lluSid Ballot
After a rather hectic contest requiring three ballots to break the
tie, Edee Larson, sophomore student, was elected to reign as Homecoming Queen. Queen Edee and her two attendants, Kay Olson and
Phyllis Dolden, three of the six candidates, were elected in the third
election held Tuesday and Wednesday, September 20 and September
21.
This election race, like last year's, was a close race. Tuesday's
election ended in a tie between two of the candidates, calling for another ballot on Wednesday. The other candidates for Queen were
Joanne Mieras, Nancy Kendall, and Betty Roberts.
Queen Edee formally accepted the crown and right to the royal
throne at this morning's assembly and will reign over the Yellowjacket-
Northland game at Soldier's Field Saturday at 8:00. Between the halves
of the game the queen and her attendants will be presented, as the
Elks' Band salutes all sweethearts of R. J. C. She will also reign over
the Homecoming Dance in the North Gym, where Clayton Tiede will
provide the music from 9:30 until 12:30.

Highlight of the Homecoming
preparatory festivities was this
morning's assembly at which the
election results were announced to
the entire student body, and Edee
Larson, Sophomore Class Secretary,
was crowned as queen to reign
over the Homecoming activities, in
a most impressive ceremony. She
was attended by Kay Olson, Freshman, and Phyllis Dolden, Sophomore.
Introducing the ceremony were
a number of selections by the Rochester J. C. Band under the leadership of Mr. Lidstrom. Then the
lights were dimmed, the drums rolled, and Queen Edee Larson and
her attendants, dressed in blue formals and wearing yellow chrysanthemums with blue and gold
streamers entered from the rear of
the auditorium. As the students
rose to pay tribute to their queen,
she and her attendants walked to
the stage where Mr. Charley Singley, famous chemistry instructor of
R. J. C, crowned the queen in the
name of the faculty and student
body. Edee graciously accepted
her crown and took her place on
the throne "in the center of the stage
with Kay Olson and Phyllis Dolden
on either side. Then Narrator Bill
Fiebelkorn presented the individual
members of the team and Coach
Rockenbach to the Queen.
The assembly continued with a
general welcome by the Master of
Ceremonies, Bill Fiebelkorn. After
a few appropriate remarks, Art
Swan, a graduate of Rochester Junior College, and now a practicing
lawyer in Rochester, gave an amusing talk to the assembly which re^
sponded with hilarious laughter and
thunderous applause. The cheerleaders, Nancy Kendall, Noel
Gray, Jackie Ranthum, and James
Brough, then lead in a rousing
cheer for the Queen, her two attendants, and the team. After several more old and new cheers, the
school song, and announcements of
tonight's game and homecoming
dance, the student body rose in respect to the Queen and her court
as they left the auditorium.
