Coffman pool and North gym,
Friday, April 2.
The Spring Prom has been set
for April 30, at the Country Club.
No theme has been selected yet,
but plans are still being made.
Pal Theide and his orchestra will
play.
The Spring Picnic is going to
be May 7, but the site has not
been decided on as yet. Those
on the committee making the decisions are Sandra Harding, Chairman, Tom Roessler, Marilyn Enrst,

Sophs to Leave
Memento to JC
A Sophomore class meeting
was held April 1, to determine
whether or not the class should
leave some memento to the college. It was established by a
i unanimous vote tovleave something, and suggestions as to what
should be given to the school
were made. Suggestions were—
a crown to be used for future
queen crowning events in which
each year's queen would have her
name engraved; a radio for classroom use; a phonograph for the
same purpose; a phone booth for
private phone conversations; and
a new philosophers' bench for the
hail.
A committee was oppointed to
investigate these possibilities as
to cost and availability. Committee members are Helen Lawniczak, chairman, LeRoy Christopherson, Jo Pezan, Dave Sperling,
and Beverly Honer.
A future meeting will be held
to discuss the committee findings.
A mass meeting composed of
both freshman and sophomore
classes was held Thursday, April
1, in room 317. The purpose of
the meeting was to nominate candidates for Student Council President for next year. Qualifications
for Student Council President require not only that the elected
member return next year, but
that he be interested in JC activities and have leadership qualities.
Those nominated were LeRoy
Christopherson, a student who
will be returning for his Hhird
year because of a course change
—he is now taking the SLA course;
Don Kruse, the only present council member returning—Pre-educa-
t.on; Jerry Olerud, a pre-law
student; and Roger Ranfranz, enrolled in the Pre-Dental course.
Primary election was held Friday, April 2, with the two participants still in the race being Kruse
and Christopherson.
At the final election Monday,
April 5, it was established that
Don Kruse will be Student Council President for the school year
1954-1955.
Dave Sperling, present president, will formally hand over the
council gavel at the Spring Banquet.
