On November 20, Rochester Junior College was host to a Vocal
lie which was conducted for area high school vocal groups. Mr.

The purpose of the Vocal Clinic was to work on vocal problems,

Santa Visits JC Party
An all school Christmas party,
sponsored by the FTA chapter,
was held on Tuesday evening,
December 14, in the North Gym.
The party was begun by grouping the students into teams as
they arrived. These teams were
then sent on a Christmas Scavenger Hunt for various items, such
as a 1946 Christmas Seal, a mimeographed copy of "Silent
Night," and other strange items.
After returning from the scavenger hunt a program was con
ducted with the reading of JC
students' letters to Santa as a
specia1 feature. The role of Santa Claus was played by Mr. Singley, and Don Kruse acted as master of ceremonies.
Refreshments were served by
FTA members, and there was
dancing following the program.
Members of the committee who
planned the party are: Roger
Rood, Lillian VonOsten, Sandra
Harding, Janice Honer, and Mary
Jane Huntsinger.

Christmas Convo
Plans Announced
Members of the Convocation
Committee have been making
plans for the Christmas Convocation to be 'held on Thursday, December 16.
Guest speaker for the Convocation will be Rev. Haugen of
the Zumbro Lutheran Church.
Perry Campbell and Bea Sandum
will give Christmas readings.
Mr. Suddendorf will direct the
Junior College Choir as they sing
some of the old familiar carols
and some traditional carols of
other lands. Community singing
of carols by the audience will be
accompanied by the Junior College Band, directed by Mr. Dubbert.

CITY FRESHMEN HONORED
AT ANNUAL RECEPTION
The annual Freshman Reception, sponsored by the Rochester
Chamber of Commerce, was held Tuesday, November 16, in the Central school building. More than 500 freshman students from St.
Mary's School of Nursing, the Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing,
and the Rochester Junior College were in attendance.
The program started at 7:45 with a 20-minute concert by the
.Rochester. .Senior High School band under the direction of H. L. Lidstrom.
Following the concert, Dr. T. L. Pool, master of ceremonies, introduced the other performers. June Potts pantomimed three songs, and
P. Johnson did an acrobatic dance.
The Mayo Clinic Fellows chorus and a quartet made up of members of this group presented a program of songs.
Closing the program was a drawing of students' names. Sharon
Hammond from RJC was one of the door prize winners.
At the conclusion of the program the students adjourned to the
cafeteria for a buffet dinner. At this time the RHS orchesra, directed
by Lidstrom, furnished a musical background.
- .' -Faculty hosts and hostesses were Dean Charles Hill, Mr. Leonard
Davis, Miss Barthelemy, Miss Matt, Mr. Paul, and Mr. Bateman.
Several new students enrolled
at JC for the winter quarter.
John Amundsen, who graduated from RHS in 1953, has enrolled in the S.L.A. course. John attended the University of Minnesota before entering Junior College.
Another RHS graduate now attending RJC is James Anderson,
who is a freshman. Jim is a business administration student and
is a permanent resident of Rochester.
John Beilke, a former veteran,
is taking the pre-business course.
He also graduated from RHS.
A former Mankato TC student
enrolled—Carol Boyum graduated
from Dodge Center in 1954.
Irene Christopherson is a transfer student from the University of
Minnesota. She was a member
of the 1954 graduating class of
RHS and is now in the pre-education course.
Suzanne Collinge, a Zumbrota,
Minnesota graduate is enrolled in
a special course at RJC.
Another business administration
student is Quinton Hawkenson,
who also is a veteran. Quinton
graduated from Red Wing High
School.
Stanley Markham, a pre-engineering student, graduated from
RHS and is also a veteran, who
plans to enter aeronautical engineering.
A former veteran and Mazeppa graduate, Glenn Mulholland,
is now in the pre-business course.
David Postier, a RHS graduate
and veteran, is enrolled in pre-
engineering.
Another veteran and RHS graduate is Raymond Ryan of Rochester. Ray is taking a general
course in college.

1952 graduating class of RHS has
