The pre-Snow-Week campaigns got off to an official start at the
[.Queen nomination convocation which was held in Coffman Hall
■jy, January 14. Seven Queen candidates were nominated by

Master of Ceremonies Jerry Olerud  introduced a representative

The elections for these candidates will be held January 30
and February 2, the primary and
final elections respectively.

Sno-Week in Rochester Junior
College has been set for February 6-12 and is now being filled
with activities. Tuesday, February 8, is the tentative date for the
crowning of the queen. The
queen will reign over all the Sno-
Week activities which will include
a toboggan party February 8 at
the Country Club, a skating party February 10 at Lincoln School,
and the winter formal February
12 in the Kahler Sky Room.

Due to an error in typing
the copy, several names were
omitted from the honor roll
for the fall quarter which appeared in the last issue of
the Echo.
These four people, like the
others, have a "B" or better
average for twelve credit
hours of work. They are Darlene Rucker, freshman; Marshall Runge, sophomore; Gerald Olerud, sophomore; and
Lucille Nichols, freshman.
Initiates Relax at Dinner
After Trying Afternoon
Last evening, January 27, the annua! Gamma Rho initiation banquet was held) at the Markay Dining Room. Gamma Rho is an honorary society for journalistic students, and last night's banquet was
also an initiation for the JC students who have proved themselves
worthy of membership during the first quarter on the Echo, Rajuco,
or both publications.
Yesterday morning the Gamma Rho initiates were initialed with
Greek letters on their foreheads. These initials were done in red
and had to be worn all day. After school the candidates for initiation were called together and given various weird assignments which
they had to carry out and report on.
At  6:30  p.m.   a   delicious  tur
key dinner was served. Following the dinner, an informal initiation was held and the initiates
reported on their assignments.
Harold Schmidt showed slides and
talked on Mexico, and Johng Lim
answered questions about Korea.
The evening closed with the formal initiation which was a candlelight ceremony with flowers of
red and gold, the colors of Gamma Rho.
Guests at the banquet were
Dean and Mrs. Hill and Johng
Lim, and advisors Miss Matt and
Mr. Kortz were also present.

The banquet and , initiation
were planned by some of the
sophomore Gamma Rho members. The committee in charge
of the formal initiation consisted
of Delores Brower, Mary Jane
Huntsinger, Sandra Harding and
Don Ryan. Dave Waldemar, LeRoy Christopherson, Karen Eichinger, and Naomi Kothenbeutel
were in charge of the informal
initiation. The plans for the banquet were made by Charlotte
Blumers, Liz LaPlante, and Tuck
Erickson. Don Ryan served as
master of ceremonies.
