observing equipment and techniques, followed by a delicious
luncheon in the cafeteria at Jos-
t e n s completed the morning
schedule. In the afternoon, the
students made themselves at home
in the Board of Directors room,
where they received many new
ideas to aid them in planning
their sections of the Rajuco.
Johng Lim's art work for our
yearbook was very highly commended by the art director of
Jostens, Mr. Barenger.
The students and advisors came
back from the very interesting
trip filled with helpful information
to aid them in planning what
they think will be one of the best

We missed it on the last
issue, but we do want to extend our appreciation, although a little belated, to the
Y.W.C.A. for sponsoring the
Freshman - Sophomore Mixer
on September 13. The use
of the Merry-Go-Round, the
entertainment, and the refreshments were all provided
by the Y.W.C.A.
Mary Goette Named
Woman of the Year
Our Jaysee counselor and political science instructor, Miss
Mary Goette, was recently named "Business and Professional
Woman of the Year" by members
of the Rochester BPW club.
Miss Goette, who is active in
many educational organizations
was chosen for her service to the
club, the federation, and the community. She has been helpful to
use here at Jaysee. Again this
year she will counsel a group of
Rochester young people who will
be sent to the United Nations by
the Rochester Association for the
United Nations.
Other positions she has held
include the presidency of the local BPW, chairmanship of the
small business clinic sponsored by
the state federation and district
four last spring at the Hotel Kahler, and group leadership in the
League of Women Voters.
At present she is vice-president
of the Rochester Council for Social Studies, chairman of the local branch of the American Association of University Women,
emblem chairman of the club; and
vice-chairman of district number
four in the Minnesota Federation
of BPW Clubs, Inc.
62 Enroll in
College Choir
Sixty-two JC students have enrolled in the college choir this
year and there is a good chance
that this year's choir will be one
of the best that JC has ever had.

Diverse Slate Offered
By Community College
Most of the Rochester Evening
Community College dosses began the week of September 12.
The courses that a person can
take are as follows: A junior college extension course of the
Fundamentals of Speech taught
by Miss McGhee; Winona State
Teachers College extension
courses Which include four different phases of teaching,- special
interest courses which include citizenship and English for foreign
born,- general interest courses
which include speech, auto mechanics, Spanish, and photography,- commercial courses of shorthand and typing; distributive occupations courses of bookkeeping,
for small business, lettering and
sign writing, modern salesmanship and sales promotion,- trade
extension education such as medical terminology, anatomy, homecrafts for vocational nursing, principles of supervision; and last,
but not least, homemaking which
includes sewing, tailoring, knitting, etc.
Other courses which you can
take in the college are agri-
culture and correspondence
courses in all subjects. Any adult
or out-of-school youth, regardless
of age, residence, or previous
schooling, may enroll in the evening college. If twelve or more
persons ask for a certain course,
the director, Dr. Heintz, will try
to arrange it if there is an instructor to be had.
Photography, laymen's auto
mechanics, anatomy, medical terminology, and lettering and sign
writing are some of the courses
scheduled in night college. Erwin
Miller, a photographer for the
Mayo Clinic, will be the instructor for the photography course.
Layman's auto mechanics will be
taught by Mark Hunemann, a
journeyman auto mechanic. Anatomy will be taught by Myrle
Peterson, a teacher of anatomy
and physiology at the Methodist
Kahler School of Nursing and
medical terminology is being
taught by Aline Culley, a Mayo
Clinic medical secretarial teacher. Lettering and sign writing
are being taught by Alton Page,
