Winter Quarter Swells
RJC Studient Roster
This winter quarter probably
has had you wondering as to just
who all the new faces are that
you see strolling down our hallowed halls here at R. J. C. Some
of these students you have known
before, so they really need no
introduction.
Fifteen students have registered
for the winter quarter. They are:
Joan Bertman, a graduate of
Lourdes High School, who is taking the Clerical Course here at
J. C. Mrs. Evelyn Bowron is registered for the general secretarial
course. As you have probably
guessed from her accent, she is
from Atlanta, Georgia. Richard
Bruzek is in pre-journalism and
is a graduate of Lourdes High
School. Mrs. Alice Bundy, from
Salem, Mass., is enrolled in the
Literature course. Stanley Richard has chosen Business Administration.    He   hails   from   Spring
Valley. Robert DeWitz, a graduate of Rochester High School,
is taking Business Administration.
Mrs. Margaret Habein is from
Wabasha and is taking French.
Ann Maher, from Beardsley, Minnesota, is enrolled in Pre-Medi-
cine. Jerry Mahoney, back for
some post-graduate work in Pre-
Business, is a graduate of Lourdes
High School. Romayne McKnight,
a graduate of Rochester High
School, is in the Medical Secretarial course. Willliam Newman,
from Norwalk, Ohio, is in Business Administration. Walter
Schwanke, a graduate of R.H.S.,
is enrolled in Pre-Engineering.
Albin Sterner is taking the Business Administration course. He
hails from Madison, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Betty Watkins from Faribault
is in S. L. A. James Winkles, recently from Little Cedar, Iowa, is
taking Pre-Business.    ■
Faculty Attends
Special Session
On Thursday, December 1, Mr.
Paul and Dean Hill attended a
workshop at the Continuation
Center of the University. The session was devoted to the problem
of teacher participation in the
school curriculum and was sponsored by the ASCD of which Mr.
Christianson of the Rochester Elementary Schools is president.
Although it began as a program for elementary schools it
has spread upward until at the
morning session four different
levels of education were represented and gave examples of
their techniques to improve their
curriculum. Mankato Teachers
College, Faribault High School,
Hazel Park Junior High and Minneapolis Elementry Schools were
represented.
At the noon luncheon held at
the Union, Dr. Alice Muhl of Columbia Teachers College summarized the previous day's discussion
on curriculum development.
Sno-Week
Fun Plans
Underway
The week of January 29 to
February 4 has been designated
as Sno-Week at R. J. C. In preparation for this week the Social
Committee has planned a number of activities.
On Monday, January 30, there
will be the Coronation Convocation. At this time the Sno-Queen
will be crowned and Mr Singley
will again do the honors. A second convocation is being- planned
for Tuesday.
Wednesday' evening, February
1, Mayo Field will be the scene
of an ice skating party. After
this refreshments will be served
at the Merry-Go-Round.
There is a basketball game
scheduled for the Armory Thursday night, Rochester playing host
to Austin JC. Following the game
there will be a Sock-Hop at the
Armory. The Austin students have
been invited to attend this dance.
Climaxing Sno-Week will be
the formal dance on Friday. A
contest is being conducted in connection with this. The student who
submits the best theme and decorating scheme will be presented
two tickets to the dance, which
will be held at the Knights of
Columbus Hall.
Francis Hunter and Bob Zeller
are co-chairmen of the committee. Others on the committee are
Chuck Hanson, Kathleen Beckley,
Margo Fick, Roger Nelson, Mary
Fogarty, Jim Weiberg and Marilyn Cooper.
Austin Hosts
Talent Contest
On Saturday, April 28, a talent
contest will be held in Austin for
junior college students. This is
an annual affair. Last year it
was held  here in  Rochester.
As a result of the many students who are working on Saturdays, it is doubtful that R.J.C.
will be represented. However, if
any student would like to enter
this talent contest, please notify
Miss Evans or any member of the
student council.
