Ihosen Banquet Theme
The annual Spring Banquet will be held Tuesday, May 22 at
10 p.m. in the Central High Cafeteria. It will be sponsored' by the
[ident Council, with Tom Barton as master of ceremonies.
This year's theme is "Classes Are Made of This," and appropriate
prations wil fit into the following seven classifications: the biologi-
sciences, physical science, mathematics and engineering, the so-
sciences, business, communications, and the fine arts.
Featured in the programs will be the traditional candlelighting
|emony, which is being planned by a committee chairmaned' by
Grimm. The passing of the gavel from President George Joyce
next year's president, James Haueter, will also take place,

IRC Greets Visitors
The IRC conference, which is
being held Friday, May 18, 1956,
[sent the bank scholarships; begins with registration at 1:30
P.M. Coffee and cookies will be
served in the library by the Secretarial Club.
A general meeting will be held
from 2:00-2:15. Then the group

At Honor Convo
On May 18, at 9:25 A.M., the
Honors Convocation will take
place in Coffman Hall. Al Brouil-
lette will be master of ceremonies
and Mr. Singley will be the only
teacher on the stage because he
will be giving the award for basketball free throws. Athletic
awards will be given for basketball.
The Student Council appointed
committees such as Fdl, Winter,
and Spring Social Committees, the
Convocations Committee, fhe Merry-Go-Round Committee, and the
Poster Committee will be honored at this meeting.
The Jaysee Echo and Rajuco
will honor their outstanding members and editors.
Delta Psi Omega, the national
honorary dramatics fraternity for
junior colleges, will give awards
to their outstanding members for
all the work that they have put
into the plays and skits that we
have seen throughout fhe year.
The Rajesters dramatic club is
part of Delta Psi Omega.

IRC Reviews Events
Of Successful Year
This post year has been indeed an active and colorful year in
the history of the Rochester Junior College IRC. The activities began
and were outlined at Holland's Chandelier Room in downtown Rochester. In September of 1955, the International Club members elected
their officers for fhe school year of 1955-1956. Elected president was
Frank Evangelist; vice president, Charles Willing; secretary, Mary Jo
Devlin, and treasurer, Margo Fick.
On October 25 fhe IRC Club held its annual fall picnic at Kutsky
Park. On November 3 and 4 many members of the IRC Club journeyed to Hamline University, and on November 11-12, traveled to St.
Catherine's College. The purpose of these meetings was to recognize
fhe growing international responsibilities of the United States and its
citizens.
On December 15, 1955, the IRC joined forces with the Future
Teachers of America Club and sponsored a Christmas party following
the Mason Oity basketball game, held at the Armory. Jim Ackerman
and Roger Nelson manned the phonograph for dancing, and refreshments were served. Wally Prigge as Santa Claus read his letters
for the JC students. Jjm Ackerman was chairman of the committee,
Joan Koehnen was in charge of clean up. Margo Fick, Diane Teigen,
Jan Honer, and George McGuire completed the committee in charge.

Initiates Members
Twelve students of Rochester
Junior College were initiated in
the Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honorary
scholastic society for junior colleges, at a dinner program Wednesday, May 2 at the Town
House.
The new members are James
L. Anderson, Dianne Bennett, Roger Brinck, Darlene Cotten, Karen
Fischer, James Haueter, Ronald
Kath, Roger Ormand, Roger
Riege, Ann Maher, James Winkels and Johng K. Lim.
The program opened with a
talk by Dean Charles Hill. He
emphasized the responsibility of
highly competent academic students in maknig themselves well-
rounded persons and good citizens.
Preceding the formal initiation
conducted by the officers of the
chapter, the candidates performed in humorous TV skits as their
informal initiation. The formal
i
initiation was performed according to the national society's rites
by Francis Hunter, president of
the RJC chapter; Robert Zeller,
vice president; Lucille Nichols,
secretary; Arlene Fenske, treasurer, and Virginia Lund, recorder.
Miss Louise Barthelemy is the
chapter adviser.
11:20, preceding the Snow Queen
coronation, the IRC presented
Monitor. This IRC program depicted various highlights and
sidelights of 1955 through the
medium of radio, audio, and Monitor. The program was patterned after NBC's program of the
same name. The announcers
were Roger Nelson and Patricia
Hamilton. Other IRC members
included in the program were:

Devlin, Miss Monitor; Phil Steph-
ans. Bob; Frank Evangelist, Ray;

Diane Bennett, Monitor Signal;
Janice Honer, Senate clerk; Joann
Koehnen, light engineer; Marilyn
Kleist, light engineer; Ginny Lund,
typist, and Dena Mamasis, typist.
On April 24, at 6:30 P.M., at
the Merry-Go-Round, the International Relations Club sponsored
a Chinese Sukiyaki Feast, followed by dancing and games. IRC
members and other JC students
and their guests attended.
During the past year the International Relations Club has had
fhe opportunity of hearing some
prominent speakers at club meetings in the Chandelier Room of
Holland's Cafeteria, such as Ray
Aune, Olmsted county farm agent,
who spoke to us on the agricultural development of Yugoslavia.
