The annual Spring Banquet was held Tuesday, May 22 at 6:30
. in the Central High Cafeteria.
Sponsored by the Student Council, with Tom Barton as master
ceremonies, the theme was "Classes Are Made of This," and ap-

Picnic Provides
Spring Fun
On May 15, between 4:30 and
7:30 the Rochester Junior College
held its annual spring picnic in
unseasonably cold and windy
weather, at Boyd's Resort.
The ticket committee included
Jim Odland, chairman, Roger
Nelson, Jean Grimm, Chuck
Thoen, Mary Chafoulias, and
Frank Evangelist. A total of one
hundred and ten tickets were
sold. The outdoor activity in the
field of sports consisted of volleyball, softball ,and badminton.
The picnic menu included: goulash, pickles, carrots, rolls, ice
cream and soft drinks.

To Speak at
*5b Graduation
On the night of June seventh,
the 1955-56 class of R. J. C.
will be graduated at a ceremony
in Central Auditorium at which
Mr. N. D. Cory of the Rochester
school system, will preside. There
will be a Processional with Shirley Bandel as organist. The Invocation will be given by Dr.
Hugh Jones, after which the choir
will render two numbers, and Dr.
Robert J. Keller of the University
of Minnesota will give the graduation address, entitled, "And
Yet a Way." Following the address, the class will be presented
and receive their degrees. The
Benediction will follow, and the
Recessional will be played.
Dr. Robert J. Keller, the speaker of the evening, is a professor
in the College of Education at
the University of Minnesota and
liaison officer between junior colleges and the University, as chairman of the Senate Committee on
Institutional Relationships. Educated in Minnesota, he is a native of Stillwater. He formerly
was the Director of Bureau of Institutional Research at the University and is still active on committees and as resource person in the
American Association of Junior
Colleges and the Council of North
Central Junior Colleges,

Honors Convocation
Recognizes Leaders
Annual awards in leadership, athletics, scholastics, journalism,
dramatics and for achievements in other activities at Rochester Junior College the past year were given at the honors convocation Friday, May 18 in Central School Auditorium.
Al Brouillette, master of ceremonies, introduced George Joyce,
student council president, who presented the top athletic award to
Charles Hanson, captain of the basketball team, president of the
Varsity Club and all-conference basketball player for 1955 and 1956.
