Head of Music School
Visits Rochester J. C.
Mr. William Mac Phail, president of the Mac Phail School of
Music in Minneapolis, visited J.C.
tion and plans made by our faculty pertaining to a study for the
last Tuesday to see the organiza-
North Central Association.
Mr. Mac Phail talked with Dr.
King, the director of our J.C. self-
study program. Dr. King is planning to have the Dean of the
Mac Phail School of Music spend
an entire day visiting our faculty
members who are the chairmen
'of their committees. Each committee pertains to a certain phase
of the J.C. curriculum or activities.

Mr. Dubbert chats with Mr. and Mrs. Willis at J.C. Open House.
Pajama Game, a musical comedy by George Abbot and Richard
Bissel, was a tremendous hit on
Broadway, enjoying a great box-
office return and providing such
popular songs as "Hey There, You
With the Stars in Your Eyes,"
"Steam Heat," and "Hernando's
Hideaway." The show will be directed by Robert Wise,- Willard
Johnson will be musical director;
Juliette Siem will do the choreography; and Donald Lavine will be
technical director for the show.
Mr. Wise emphasized the fact
that students need not be great
singers to take part in the thrill of
performing in Pajama Game, for
there are many good speaking
parts.
"No one," he said, "should hesitate to try out because they can't
sing." Mr. Wise also emphasized
the need for all sizes and shapes,
kinds and varieties of students to
fill the roles offered by a production of this scope.
The story in Pajama Game concerns a labor-management dispute
in a pajama factory. The basic
problem in the play is, in a
parody of Shakespeare, "to strike
or not to strike."
Pajama Game offers a great
variety in parts. The romantic
leads are Sid, the factory superintendent; and Babe, the female
chairman of the Union Grievance
Committee.
The comic leads are the president of the Union, Prez; the company secretary, Mabel; the efficiency expert ..in. the factory, Hines;
and his girl-friend, Gladys.
Mr. Wise stated that a musical
comedy is different from a regular
