finter Honor Roll
|The college honor roll for the winter quarter has been announced
■jean Hill. There are two requirements for this recognition. The
TLf must be enrolled in at least twelve credit hours, and must
o "B" average for the quarter. Students are divided into three
lps, those having all A's, all A's and B's, .and grades averaging

Sessions Set
June 12 -
July 21
The summer session at Rochester Junior College will run from
June 12 to July 21, six weeks.
Six courses will be held each
weekday in Coffman Building if
the enrollment for each class is
sufficient to merit teaching the
course. Tuition fees consist of $3
per credit hour for a resident of
Special School District No. 4, and
$4 per credit for a non-resident
of Special School District No. 4.
Mr. McKeehan will teach Introductory Composition, English
3, which is a non-credit course;
although it is considered a three-
credit course when fees are assessed. This course is particularly
designed for those entering college with a weak background in
English, and is composed of a
brief, intensive review of fundamentals of grammar, drill work,
and theme writing.
English 13, Freshman Composition, is offered to those who
have had English 11 and 12. This
course includes studying models

The 1961-62 editors for the Jaysee Echo have been announced.
The top position of managing editor goes to Celie Hick. A graduate
of Lourdes High School, where she proved herself to be a valuable
leader, a tireless worker, a student of hight academic achievement,
Celie has also gained such recognition at J.C.
During the 1960-61 year Celie served as Assistant Editor and
contributed her talents to the layout division and to news reporting.
Celie will take over Blake Smyth's job.
For the 1961-62 year, Celie has
many capable and qualified persons to work with her in producing a fine school paper. The vital
position of News Editor will be in
fhe hands of Judy Spelhaug. Judy,
who hails from Stewartville,
graduated from Chatfield High
and is enrolled in Journalism. Her
job will consist of finding and
reporting the news on and around
the Junior College campus. Her
interests include horseback riding
and swimming. Judy succeeds Jan
Ridenour who has done an excellent job this year.
Sno Queen Carmen Starkson
is the Echo's new Feature Editor,
succeeding Linda Geist. A graduate of Byron High School, Carmen
is majoring in pre-education. This
year she has served as a news
reporter on the paper and is a
member of Gamma Rho. Besides
writing, her interests include sewing and cooking.

School Selects
Vern Shea
Councilman for
Coming Year
Vern Shea was elected President of the Student Council for
the 1961-62 school year following all school elections held on
April 24 and 26.
Aurilla Klug, Bill McNiff, Vern
Shea and Kenzie Phelps were the
four students nominated on April
10, 11, and 12 for President of the
Student Council.
Aurilla Klug graduated from
Zumbrota High School and is majoring in pre-education. This year,
in addition to being in the band
and pep band, she was also a
