Convocation
A TALK illustrated with slides,
on the narrow gauge railroads in
Colorado, was a highlight convocation program by Dr. O. T.
Claggett of the Mayo Clinic, on
Thursday, February 9. A native
of Colorado, Dr. Claggett is extremely familiar with fhe aid
haunts and the remaining narrow
gauge railroads.
The narrow gauge railroads
were built over a century ago for
fhe gold and silver mines, and
were built under grave difficulties,
because of the lay of the land.
DR CLAGGETT prepared this
talk when, as outgoing President
of Sigmi XI, a scientific fraternity
at the Mayo Clinic, he was asked

subject. Narrow gauge railroads
having been one of his hobbies,
he chose to present his interesting
materials on this topic.
The next program of this nature will be on March 23, present-

Two Performances Given ,
To Near Capacity Audiences
by DIANE HAMMOND
ABOUT 2,000 people attended the Rochester Junior College
production of "Mister Roberts" at Central Auditorium February 24 and
25.
The cast, most of them inexperienced in the field of acting, gave
a remarkable portrayal of the famous World War II play by Thomas
Heggen and Joshua Logan, under th edirection of Robert O. Wise.
"MISTER ROBERTS" is a story of the most hated enemy of war —
boredom, a despised captain who aggravates this boredom, and Mister
Roberts who wants desperately to leave his ship and take his part in
the battle action in the Pacific or Europe. Letters requesting his transfer are the only possible way of defeating Robert's boredom, but the
Captain invaribly rejects them.
After arrival in Elysium, a liberty port is arranged with the
help of a bottle of Scotch (compliments of the Captain). The Captain forces Roberts to make a deal
whereby he promises to send no
more letters and also promises to
side with the Captain in all things,
rather than siding with the crew.
The crew then gets its liberty.
Robert's actions, because of his
deal with the Captain, instill bitterness in the crew toward Roberts
which is dissipated when he

Audit System
May Change
Soon at RJC
A new system for auditing
classes has been suggested by
the faculty scholastic committee.
When a student audits a class,
he attends classes without taking
a final exam or getting credit.
The new suggestion is that in
order for a class to be listed on
