erry Wolfbauer added, "with

FDn the social committee, the
garter should be a success."
The curtain goes up on DAMN YANKEES to reveal Joe Boyd,
actively watching a garne between the Senators and the Yankees.
His wife Meg gives up trying to talk to him and goes to bed to get
rested up for her bridge club the next day. Appearing suddenly to
offer Joe a business proposition is the suave salesman, Mr. Applegate.
The scene then shifts to Griffith Stadium where Joe is trying out
for the Washington Senator's ball team. A female sports writer, Gloria
Thorpe, watches and is inspired with the idea to make Joe famous.
"Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo. — that's what everyone will call
him."
As the scene shifts to the park, Lola, Applegate's chief home-
wrecker, sings and dances to "A Little Brains—A Little Talent" to prove
to Applegate that she's "got what it takes."
The Senators' locker room comes into view and we join the team
in celebrating their victory over those "damn' Yankees." Here Joe
meets Lola - and - "Whatever Lola Wants—Lola Gets."
A monkey-wrench is thrown into the Senators' bid for the pennant
when Gloria becomes suspicious of Joe and accuses him of being
"Shifty" McCoy — the guy who took a bribe in the Mexican League.
To see how this affects the Senators' chances at winning the
pennant, be sure to see the song-and-dance-filled Damn' Yankees on
March 30 and 31, at Central Auditorium, at 8:15 p.m.
Technical Technicalities
Mr. Lavine, technical director, and his crews have faced several
difficulties in construction and setting up scenery for "Damn Yankees."
The musical, "Damn Yankees," has 22 scenes, all of which require
a scene change. Because some of the scenes themselves are only a
minute or so long, the changes must be made at a tremendous speed.
The stage crew must be able to move quietly and sometimes in pitch
or semi-darkness. All equipment is on rollers and all scenes are on
drops to facilitate changes.
There are 3 stage drops that are 18 feet high and from 30-36
feet long which represent 3 different scenes. These drops represent
a stadium corridor, Griffith Stadium, and a bill board.
