to Wolfbauer.
He also said, "The members of
the CPCP should be strongly influenced by the tasks the Peace
Corps members are called upon

to recruit members to join the

who are strong advocates for the
Peace Corps. This way, I feel,

would be successful."
"A correspondence with former
RJC students would acquaint the
students of our college with personal views, responsibilities, and
adjustments of those in the Peace
Corps. We would also know,
through correspondence, exactly
what is needed in these countries."
Present plans are to send books,
school supplies, and recreational
equipment. Ways of gathering
the materials and taking care of
any costs will be arranged when
the big committee is formed.

Brown's Thunder Dominates Stage
Reverend Jeremiah Brown, dominating the platform, brings "Inherit
the Wind" to an emotional climax as he preaches a "hell and thunder"
sermon at performances last Friday and Saturday. Other actors give
Bob Schafer, playing Brown, their spellbound attention. Audiences
both nights agreed that this 'scene was among the most believable.
About 1,300 people saw the JC major play.

by GARY SCHATTSCHNEIDER
A stunned, then enthusiastic
audience witnessed the opening
night performance of RJC's major
dramatic production "Inherit the
Wind" Friday, Feb. 22. Meeting
the challenge of a difficult play,
the RJC players did an effective
job under the direction of Mr.
Robret Wise, dramatics director.
The characters in the three-act
drama were generally convincing,
although one of the hindrances
to the complete believability of
the play, was the youthfulness'of
some of the actors.
It was difficult to imagine, for
example, that Ed Villwock as Bertram Cates was the harrassed
school teacher on trial for reading
Darwin to some of his classes. His
inner conflict was not very apparent to the audience and the
effectiveness may have been hindered by his over-articulation.
The overall effect in the revival
scene had a tremendous soul-
stirring effect on the audience.
Highlighted against the silhouette
of the town, the Reverend Jeremiah Brown, played by Robert
Schafer, reached an emotional
height as the "fire and brimstone"
revivalist.
It is in this scene also that
Karen Miller as Rachel Brown reveals her real feeling about Bertram Cates. Miss Miller added
freshness to a difficult role and
reached believable heights at
times.
Tom Bushee, perhaps the most
experienced actor of the entire
cast, reached a new climax in his
acting career. With a change in
voice and an aging posture, he
was completely convincing in his
role of Henry Drummond.
Verne Hansen as Matthew Harrison Brady, likewise proved a
strong opposition to Drummond.
His portrayal of the "Barnum-
bunkum Bible-beating" orator and
lawyer was another highlight of
the production.
Gerald Delaney as the cocky
journalist, E. K. Hornbeck, brought
cynicism and vitality to his role.
He showed an unusual amount of
self-assurance on stage which
