SELECTING BOOKS FOR CLASSROOM LIBRARIES
Over fifty thousand books are in use every year by the teachers and
pupils of the Saint Paul schools for classwork and home reading. During
the summer months these books must be reconditioned, selected, and
boxed for fall distribution to nearly one thousand classrooms in the public
and parochial schools, from the kindergarten through the eighth grade.
This is especially necessary in these times of economic distress, when
carfare is not available for many children to come to the Library. We
must take the Library to them.
The Library tries to meet all requests of the teachers because it
realizes the necessity of making available to children the best in books.
Sometimes this is impossible, as more books are being worn out each year
