The Jewish Historical Society of the Upper Midwest collects, preserves and interprets records, photographs and artifacts representing the experiences of Jewish people and the Jewish community in the Upper Midwest. The collections chronicle the building of Jewish cultur, social services, labor, agricultural and religious organizations, and Jewish contributions to greater Minnesota. Our materials are housed at the Minneapolis Jewish Community Center and Elmer L. Andersen Library at the University of Minnesota. JHSUM contributed more than 470 photos from 1910 to 1950 to Minnesota Reflections. Jewish shops, businesspeople, camps, social organizations, religious holiday celebrations, Hebrew schools, synagogue buildings, neighborhood locations and sports teams are a few of the areas featured.
