The Synod of the Lakes and Prairies, located in Eagan, Minnesota, serves the mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA) throughout its region which includes a wide area of the upper Midwest. It supports the ministry of the 16 presbyteries within its bounds of nearly 900 churches and 150,000 members. Presbyterian work to the Dakota Indian nations and this geographic territory was established in 1844. The materials submitted represent a sampling of documents developed for use by Dakota missions, schools and agencies. The collection in Minnesota Reflections represents a partnership between the Synod and Dakota Wicohan, whose mission is to preserve Dakota as a living language, and through it, transmit Dakota life ways to future generations.
