In additional to serving the eastern Minnesota community of Stillwater, Minnesota as its library, the Stillwater Public Library preserves historical collections, including photographs, of this town on the banks of the St. Croix River. The Stillwater Public Library's contribution to Minnesota Reflections includes images of the James Sinclair stereopticon slides. Sinclair was a Stillwater area photographer from approximately 1876 to 1890. His collection, Views In and Around Stillwater, portrays people and scenes in the late 1800s. Most images feature scenes of early Stillwater businesses, homes and views of the St. Croix River.
