Description	Official highway trail registration form 116, recording and approving the highway trail that started from "Elk River and thence via Sherburne, Mille Lacs, Crow Wing and Cass Counties and terminating at Bena, there connecting with T.H.# 8" and known as Big 4 Lakes Trail. Application was submitted by the Big 4 Lakes Trail Association on the 28th day of April 1924 and approved on the 6th day of May 1924. Form features an image of a trail marker that is a square with black on the sides, white in the middle and BIG 4 LAKES written in black down the square. It is signed by Commissioner of Highways Charles M. Babcock.

Babcock, Commissioner of Highways, after investigation of the application made by >The Big 4 Lakes Trail Assâ€™n [Association]< on the >28th< day of >April< 19 >24<, do find that the application is meritorious and the Highway Trail therein described is worth of registration and protection under the provisions of Chapter 318, Laws of 1917 >Sec 78 Chapter 323, Laws 1921< Therefore; it is ordered that the said Highway Trail be registered in the office of the Highway Department, as starting from >Elk River< and thence via >Sherburne, Mille Lacs, Crow Wing and Cass Counties< and terminating at >Bena there connecting with T.H. [Trunk Highway] #8< to be known as >Big 4 Lakes Trail< With the following color combination and design hereby authorized to be used in marking said highway trail: In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my official seal, at St. Paul, Minnesota, this >6th< day of >May< 19 >24< Certificate >Order< No. >4136< Recorded >May 6th 1924< >C M Babcock< Commissioner of Highways.
