Minnesota Reflections Archives

A collection of services and resources formerly available on the main Minnesota Reflections site.

Learning from Photography
Bonnie Wilson, who was the photography archivist at the Minnesota Historical Society before retiring in 2005, wrote two essays for "Minnesota Reflections" when it was new. These essays help students understand the value of photography to historians and teach students how to understand and analyze the information in photographs.

Teaching with Minnesota Reflections
From 2004-2007, "Minnesota Reflections" featured for teachers a PowerPoint presentation and Teachers Guide on immigration in Minnesota. We also demonstrated Pachyderm, a new program for creating interactive learning tools. All of these resources are still available at the main Minnesota Digital Library Web site on the Resources for Educators page.

Maps at the Minnesota Historical Society
In the first years of Minnesota Reflections, we featured a collection of public survey land maps and plat books which the Minnesota Historical Society digitized. The Hennepin and Ramsey Counties 1898, Dakota County 1896, and Winona County 1894 plat books and the 1873 map of Hennepin County are now available in Minnesota Reflections. The original survey maps are still at Minnesota Maps Online.
