Erastus Church was a colorful Worthington character who peddled vegetables, picked up junk and distinguished himself by having a street named in his honor, because he lived on that street. The photograph is dated September 26, 1900. Poster in the window promotes the candidacy of William McKinley over William Jennings Bryan. It proclaims: "McKinley was right in 1896." Note: This information taken from a newspaper article with same picture, in the Worthington Centennial July 22, 1972. We think it is a Buchan photo but don't know for sure.

Two hitches of horses doing field work on the D. M. Holland farm four miles north east of Worthington in the south east quarter section 26 of Elk Township. On the far right of the photograph is the bridge over Elk Creek. The farm site is in the background with three men, two dogs and eight horses and mules by the farm implements.
First automobile in Nobles County was the chain driven two cylinder chugger in this photograph. It was built by Peter Spartz of Wilmont in 1900. Seated in the car, left to right are: John, Henry, Peter and William Spartz.
Mrs. A.T. Latta, driving a 1917 Buick, gaily festooned was awarded the first prize in the fourth of July parade. They are just passing Richardson's Ice Cream Store at Fourth Avenue and 10th Street. Beside her is Mrs. Dunham with her Robbie in the sailors suit. Others dressed for the occasion are Dono Becker, Miriam Latta Schwieder, Ardith Latta Nelson and Francelia Latta Pinsonault.
