St. Paul's College in St. Paul Park, organized in 1889 offered both a preparatory and collegiate course. St. Paul's was organized and supported by the Northern German Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. This conference included German Methodist congregation in Minnesota plus some in Wisconsin and North Dakota. The school operated until 1917, closing under financial difficulties and the stress of being a German-speaking institution during World War I. Supporters were encouraged to shift allegiance to Hamline University.

Three girls sit at pianos in practice rooms at the old Angels Academy in North Minneapolis. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet owned and operated the school as a private elementary and secondary school from 1877 to 1907, when the high school was transferred to St. Margaret's Academy. The grade school closed in 1928.

Rochester City Hall is situated on the corner of the intersection of First Avenue Southwest and Third Street Southwest. City Hall was built in 1884 and was razed in 1931 to make room for a new city hall. To the right is the Electric Light Plant, built in 1894 and burned in 1915.

Written in pencil on the backside of the cardstock is "Frank Hinds/Chickie Hinds/Feb. '96/6 1/2 years." Hinds graduated from Shakopee High School in 1907. Eventually he became a prominent attorney in Shakopee.

Albumen print of Carl Timmian, Marion W. Savage's coachman. Timmian is seen wearing a full length coat and top hat. He is seated at Savage's coach, which is hitched to a team of horses. Visible behind the coach is a portion of Savage's home. Written on the reverse: "Carl Timmian/ Coachman for M. W. Savage. Savage residence, coach + team." Marion Savage owned Dan Patch, one of the greatest harness race horses of all time. The city of Hamilton was renamed "Savage" after him.
