Theodore Knoll operated this dry goods and groceries store in St. Peter. It was located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Third Street and Park Row. A newspaper account states that it was replaced by a new building in 1886.

Charles L. Phelps operated a grocery and tinware store in St. Peter. The 1899 St. Peter City Directory indicates that his store was on the north side of Nassau Street in that year, but it is not known where the building in this photograph was located.
Nathan Russ moved to Robbinsdale after the Civil War. He owned a small farm near Lake Road and Lake Drive. Mr. Russ was the Village Recorder for many years, but he lost the election of 1894 after he came out in favor of licensing saloons. The Russ Brothers Grocery was operated by Nathan's sons, Howard and Ernie. It was located near the corner of West Broadway and 42nd Avenue North at 4179 West Broadway.
The back of this photograph reads "Albert Olsen Grocery, Coates Street, about 1915." Coates Street, below Grand Avenue, ran from Thirty Fourth Avenue West to Thirty Seventh Avenue West.

Otto Schmalzbauer acquired land in June, 1901, from the New Brighton Land Company, upon which he built his meat market. One of the areas first entrepreneurs, Otto was a butcher, cattle and horse trader, hotel and saloon operator, slaughter house owner, realtor. and New Brighton Village official. Pictured with Otto is his daughter Theresa Schmalzbauer.
The grocery store of Schmalzbauer and Zamor, located on Front Street in the old Transit House building, was operated by Frank (Shorty) Zamor and Anton (Buff) Schmalzbauer, brothers-in law.
The William A. Ritt store was located at 500 South Minnesota Avenue in St. Peter. Crates of Edison phonographs are lined up in front of the building. To the south, the O. L. Lindstrom grocery store was at 504 South Minnesota Avenue.
This grocery store at First Avenue West and Fourth Street, 32 West Fourth Street, is an addition to the front of the building that was once an elementary school.
