Harriet Gilman, born and raised in Sauk Centre, attended State Normal School in Winona, Minnesota. After graduation, she returned to Sauk Centre and became a teacher at the Sauk Centre Public School until 1906.
Four Carleton students pose on a fake train car with the sign "Leaving Paris." Handwritten notes on back of postcard read "fun & nonsense, posed & planned" and "Warren Knowles album."
Schools in St. Cloud (1869-1909). Not to be surpassed by the neighboring new Holy Angels Parish in St. Cloud, which had established a high school in 1902, St. Mary's also conducted a high school from 1907 to 1914. With Sisters Meinrad Winter and Magna Werth as its first teachers, the school opened with seven pupils; only one student, Lillian Bastien, persevered to graduation (Saint Benedict's Monastery Archives).

Portrait of Alice Eddy Edwards, wife of the Reverend Elijah Evan Edwards and sister of the Reverend Thomas M. Eddy. Elijah E. Edwards was chaplain of the 7th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry during the latter part of the Civil War. Alice died in 1896.
Studio portrait of Bertinius K. Savre, 1873-1960. Savre taught at the Glenwood Academy and Luther College, was editor of the Glenwood Herald, served over 30 years on the Glenwood High School Board of EduCation, served 10 years as president of the Pope County Historical Society among many other community boosting activities.
Photograph of woodcut of the Reverend David Clarke John, Hamline University president 1880-1883. A Methodist minister, he earlier served churches in the East Baltimore conference, was a professor of natural sciences at the state normal school in Bloomsburg, a principal of a high school in Milton, Pennsylvania, and the pastor of Emory Chapel at Carlisle. He also was principal of the Mankato State Normal school. After leaving Hamline, he become pastor of the first Methodist Episcopal Church of Winona.
Dr. Jonathan Lovejoy Noyes was the second superintendent of the Minnesota Institute for the Deaf, Dumb and Blind, and served during 1866-1896. His signature is printed as "J.L. Noyes" in cursive script below the picture. The school's name changed from "Minnesota Institute for the Deaf, Dumb and Blind" to "Minnesota Institute for Defectives (Deaf, Blind, and Feeble-Minded)" during his administration.
