The re-election campaign of President Truman brought him to cities in Minnesota including Duluth where he was celebrated by local Democrats at the Duluth Armory.

Cantor was a popular entertainer who traveled periodically during World War II to promote sales of U. S. War Bonds. He is shown here with the Lebedoff triplets; David, Jonathan and Judy. Arrangements for Cantor's visit were made by Minneapolis Hadassah.

Final Government Land Sale on June 20, 1904 at Old Washington school, on the north side of the school. 93,000 acres were sold and Thief River Falls was 8 years old.
Standing in front of the monument honoring the pioneers who founded Esko in 1872 is Finland's President Urho Kekkonen. He and his wife visited Esko and the museum site on their 1961 tour of the United States by invitation of President John F. Kennedy. Local bussinessman Emil E. Johnson is in the center of the photograph, with the Esko one-room school house in the background. At the far lower right corner of the photo is Minnesota Governor Elmer L. Andersen. The young man with the 1962 letterman's jacket, holding a camera, is the Esko School photographer, Glenn Nynas. Carlton County Sheriff Oscar Juntunen promoted the visit to Esko by the Kekkoknen party. Photographs and other items from the visit are displayed in the school house.

Dena Peterson (Mrs. W.A. Hopkins) stands before the log cabin in which she was born. Her father, Ole Peterson, hosted the 1866 meeting at which Pope County was organized. Originally in Gilchrist Township, the cabin was later moved to the courthouse lawn in Glenwood. The 1930 courthouse building is visible to the right and the county jail building stands behind the cabin.
The Hillel Israeli folk dance group gathered in front of Northrop Auditorium on the University of Minnesota Campus to celebrate the 34th anniversary of the creation of the state of Israel.

The founders of Pioneer Women, posed outdoors for this photograph. Pioneer Women was an international group of Labor-Zionist women who made Aaliyah to Palestine during the 1920s. They came with a feminist agenda, to be full partners in the political and economic work of building a Jewish state. A women's group formed in Minnesota to raise funds to support their counterparts in Palestine.
