This is an original plat of Olmsted County with many handwritten notes and drawings showing early Minnesota settlers, farmers and other town landscape features. This map is the earliest documentation we have found in our collection of the farms, towns, and topography of Olmsted County, Minnesota.

According to description on the verso appears to have been part of a set taken for the opening of the Northern Pacific Railroad in Minneapolis; street decorations; electric power pole; streetcar tracks, unpaved streets, and buildings.

Twin Cities streetcars were built with a semi-open rear platform enclosed by wire gates, and were referred to as gate cars. This is the view an exiting passenger would have seen.
Upstairs at each of the streetcar stations was a trainmen's dormitory, where they could sleep between work shifts. This one is at Lake Street Station at 22nd Avenue.
