According to the 1907 "The Book of Minnesotans: A Biographical Dictionary of Leading Living Men of the State of Minnesota," John P. Hedberg was born in Sweden on May 3, 1853 and came to America in 1869. He opened a lumber business in 1882 in Brandon, Minnesota under the title of of "J. P. Hedberg & Co." and in 1887 moved to Kensington where he engaged in "lumber, hardware and furniture business."
